The whitelist functionality prevents drops, but not adds. The usual procedure to handle deferred exam students is one of the following two options:
- Find a current offering of the same course, and enroll the student there. (This is what the course whitelist was designed to handle.) Or,
- Copy the course content into a new course and enroll the student there.
The third option, which is not normally available due to administrative overhead and making it difficult to identify the course later, is to unlink the Blackboard course from the SIS section.

Error with Advanced Adaptive Release.
When trying to delete a rule created with Advanced Adaptive Release, the following error is encountered:
Access Denied Either you are not logged in or you do not have the appropriate privileges to perform this action. You may have access to other parts of the course.
Thursday, May 30, 2013 8:37:39 AM PDT
As a work-around, go into the rule and delete all the criteria, no access restrictions will be in place to prevent access, even though the rule is still present.

In a Grade Book Column automatically created by the Assignment tool and released to Groups of Students (but no groups created yet), the instructor will not be able to enter the grades/feedback and see “not participating”.
To resolve this issue, assign the students into groups using the Group Tool or create a new column and the instructor can manually add grades and feedback.

Issue with the discussion board – students who compose in Word, then cut/paste into the HTML editor box might cause problems with any subsequent replies in the thread.
Suggestion: students use a simplified text editor like TextEdit or Notepad instead of Word to cut/paste into the HTML editor.

Nicole flagged the new options in the “Course Properties” tool. The screenshot below contains some info on how to use the new settings.

The recommended settings for Sept term are :
- Use Term Availability (2013WA is available)
- Use Term Duration (2013WA duration is from Sep 3, 2013 to Feb 10, 2014)
If you have a course shell that needs to be made available this term (ie. from May to Sep 2), then you would use the manual settings:
- Make Course Available Yes
- Duration Select Dates (select start and end dates)
If you have a shell that is required to be open continuously (ie. workshop shell with no start or end dates), the settings are:
- Make Course Available Yes
- Duration Continuous
